I just got the new MacPro and upgraded to Fetch 5.1.1. I really like the new interface...only problem is I can't get connected to it. Well with my files anyway. I was able to log on to the "ftp.fetchsoftworks.com" and another one of my site. Just not the one I need right now (?).

    • Use passive mode transfers (PASV) is "checked"

    • used the ping and traceroute function in the Network Utility application to check the network route between my computer and the server:
    Ping has started ...

Not sure of what the problem is. But need a hand! Thanks! :)

    Hi,

Could you please post a transcript from your attempt to connect? It looks like smahalko.com is accepting FTP connections, although of course, since I don't have an account on the system, it rejected me.

To post a transcript, try to connect, then choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message. We'll take a look and try to figure out what's going on.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Yes, that's what I meant, thanks.

Try this - go to the Fetch Preferences, click on the Miscellaneous tab, and uncheck the "Use LIST -al command to reveal hidden files" checkbox.

Then try connecting to your server again. Let us know if this works or not.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Hmm, could you please post another transcript, now that the "Use LIST -al" option is off?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

The first transcript you sent shows you connecting to ftp.creativesignsandgraphics.net ; the second shows you trying to connect to ftp.smahalko.com . These are different servers. Which one is the one we're concerned with here?

Assuming it's ftp.smahalko.com, I can connect to it from my Mac, so it may be that for some reason they are limiting access to certain address, and your address isn't on the list.

Here's what I'd try: try connecting to ftp.smahalko.com with either the Mac OS X command-line client (type "ftp ftp.smahalko.com" in Terminal) or another Mac FTP client. If those don't work either, you should contact the server administrator or hosting provider and tell them about your problem.

If the command line or other Mac FTP client works, but Fetch doesn't, please let us know and we'll try to figure out why.

Let us know what you find out. Thanks,

Well I did contact the administrrator of the server and they couldn't find anything wrong either...when I went to write them back I checked one lst time ( just in case it worked ) and it just happened to work. I haven't had any problems with it. So I think someone jiggled a wire in the right spot and it fixed itself.

But thanks for all your help! Love the new interface and all!
