Automate download and delete from server (2 posts)

I followed instructions to use the "Automator" and I can make a connection to my sftp server and get files successfully, but the files remain on the server. My goal is to setup an automated download to a folder on the MAC and the files must be removed/deleted from the server. How can I accomplish this?
    Thanks

    Hi Jeff,

If you are running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard you can accomplish that by adding three actions to your Automator workflow.

First, add a "Set Value of Variable" action to the workflow right before the "Download Fetch Items" action. Set the name of the variable to "files on the server". This variable will be set to the list of files on the server that you want to download and delete.

Then, at the end of the workflow, add a "Get Value of Variable" action, and choose "files on the server" from the menu.

Finally, right after the "Get Value of Variable" action, add a "Delete Fetch Items" action. It will delete the files that you downloaded.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
