BBEdit and Fetch 5.0 (13 posts)

    I downloaded the new Fetch 5.0, but I cannot get it to work with BBEdit 7. The Obscure preferences does not list BBEdit as an available text editor, or any other editor for that matter. The same for graphic convertor. What do I have to do to make this work, as this intergation is absolutely fundemental to using Fetch in the first place. I restarted Fetch and BBEdit, it works for downloaded files, but not for apple-J.

    Sorry you're encountering a problem. Please try this to see if it resolves it:

    * Quit both Fetch and BBEdit
    * Empty the Trash
    * Run BBEdit
    * Then run Fetch
    * See if BBEdit is listed in the Obscure Preferences

    Let us know if this fixes the problem.

    BBEdit (version 8.2.1) works fine for me. But GraphicConverter (V 5.6 X) doesn't work.

    And if I try to select GraphicConverter in the Obscure tab of the preferences the only image editor listed is "None"

    Cheers,
    Colin

    Colin,

    Does following the steps I posted above (except substituting GraphicConverter for BBEdit) solve your problem with GraphicConverter?

    Thanks,

    Hi Scott,

    No sorry it didn't work. But there was nothing in my Trash to empty - did I miss a step?

    Cheers,

    The next thing I'd try is dragging the BBEdit icon onto the pop-up menu -- does that work?

    Thanks,

    Thanks - the quit and restart only worked for Graphic Convertor, not BBEdit -however the drag and drop worked fine. You need to put that in the documentation.

    Thanks for the feedback. We're hoping to find a better solution than having to use drag and drop, but if we can't we will publicize that option more widely.

    Thanks,

    The drag and drop method worked for me too with GraphicConverter. But I have to launch GraphicConverter manually before I can open files in it from Fetch. If GC is not already open and I attempt to edit an image I get an error dialog telling me to launch the app first. Is this expected behaviour?

    Cheers,
    Colin

    No, it should not do that. We're working on an update that should address this problem. Please send a note to bugs at fetchsoftworks dot com if you'd like to test the fix (mention your message board username or the URL of this topic so we can refer back to it).

    Thanks,

    Fetch 5.0.1 should do a better job of listing all the available editors and not require you to add them by dragging and dropping. Please try it out and let us know.

    You can download Fetch 5.0.1 from the home page of the Fetch Softworks website:
