    I purchased a new computer and then tried to download fetch onto my new computer and it didn't work. So I purchased it again for this new computer and I cannot get connected.
    What is the problem?

    Hi,

    Are you having a problem entering your serial number and registering Fetch?

    Or are you having trouble connecting to your server - you get a password incorrect or server not found error?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hi,

    We'd like some more information to help diagnose the problem. Could you please do the following?

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Try connecting to your server.
    * After you receive the error, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    We'll take a look and give advice about the problem.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hi,

    The problem is the server at that address (hostname) is not listening for FTP connections, so it will not talk to Fetch.

    You may not have quite the right hostname for the server. I would try typing

    ftp.emss1.com

    in the hostname field instead, and see if that works.

    If it does not, you should contact the people or company who run the server, and double-check the hostname, username, and password that you should use for connecting to the server.

    Please let us know if you have more questions after talking to them.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    I was just guessing as to whether ftp.emss1.com might be what you wanted; apparently I was wrong, and I apologize for the confusion.

    The only way to figure out what you need to enter, or if there is a problem with the server that is preventing you from connecting, is to contact the people who run the server and talk to them.

    We do not run the server, so we cannot tell you what you need to enter, I'm afraid. (We just make the software that lets you move files from your Macintosh to servers run by other companies or people.)

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
