My Dad gave me his old G3 running Mac OS 9.2. We also have a Micron PC running Windows 98. Both are on an ethernet LAN behind a router. The PC always has the same IP address. All I want to do is be able to send files back and forth between my Mac and my PC without having to use email. When I try to use Fetch, it tries to establish the connection but the dog just runs and runs. Note that this seems to only be a problem when trying to get to my PC. I seem able to get to the outside world (such as the fetch ftp site) without any problem.

    So, here are my questions:

Can I put the IP address for the PC in the host name entry?

What user name do I put in? And there are no passwords.

Do I need anything on the PC in order to allow me access? (I can ftp from the PC to other places just fine.) Or do I have to turn something on or something off to enable access?

Note: I am running ZoneAlarm on the PC as a firewall. I'm not sure I have it set up properly to allow the ftp.

    Yes.

Yes, you need to install FTP server software on the PC. One example is WFTPD, available at http://www.wftpd.com .
