Can't put or get twice in a row (9 posts)

    When I use Fetch at home, all works fine, but when I take my laptop to the office it doesn't. We're using MS Proxy 2.0 there, which is probably the problem.

    I can connect successfully to my ftp site and put one file there. In order to put a second file, though, I have to refresh the file listing twice (which opens a new window). Then I can put one file. In order to do a third file, I have to refresh twice again. (A similar thing happens with getting files.) If I don't do the double refresh, I'm left with the running dog and "putting files" forever.

    I'm copying the transcript of a recent session here, with two successful "puts," and one unsuccessful put. I double-refreshed between the successful ones but not the last one.

    I have heard similar reports, and I don't have any suggestions to make. I should find a way to run MS Proxy on my network, so that I can figure out why it stops working after one upload.

    I have the same situation. However, I am trying to connect via Fetch 4 from a 68k mac via a dialup line to my G3 that is on DSL, behind a Linksys router. I get owner log in, files are displayed, but I can only perform one task. Then I have to make a new connection again. I cannot change directories, or I will not get the file list.

    I would be interested to see the transcript for that session, with and without "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checked.

    I resolved this problem for myself in a completely different way--we obtained a router in our office and we're no longer running through a proxy. All is well.

    Jim,
    I sent the transcripts as you instructed. Let me know if you do not recieve them.

    We do not have the option of running without a proxy, so hopefully you can help. If anyone else has more information I would like to hear it.
