can't use the net while uploading! (6 posts)

  Hi,

  Since i moved into a new appartement i can't use the net at the same time as uploading.

  i have a 3meg download speed and 320kb upload speed.

  If im uploading to my server my connection to the internet is really really slow and takes minutes to open pages.

  The uploaing is going fine at a steady 32kbps.

  Im using the latest version of fetch on OS 10.4.9
  I have passave mode checked.

  Is there something im doin wrong?

  Hi,

  On many home Internet connections, uploading and downloading must share the same bandwidth. It sounds like your connection is doing a poor job of dividing its resources between them, so downloads are suffering significantly when you are uploading (usually there will be some slowdown, but nothing as slow as you're describing).

  This is most likely a result of the way your cable/DSL modem is configured; this is not something under Fetch's control and so there is no setting in Fetch that will help improve the behavior.

  You should try contacting your Internet provider and see if they have any suggestions on configuration changes you can make that might improve download speeds while you're uploading.

  Well I have a home network and we upload and use the internet all the time, I am pretty good for my age. My dad has taught me a lot, he is a network administrator. So I am pretty good I will check on your problem.

  Hello New user,

  Sounds like your pretty good:)
  I'll be happy if you new of any fixes to it,
  I contacted my ISP and they couldnt help.
  So now i have 2 seperate connections to the interent.
