Thanks for your help. Obviously my goal is to be able to upload an entire folder without having to do it in 4 to 5 file batches and having to disconnect and reconnect. FYI This happens on all the servers I upload to, not just the one above.
    Thanks,
    Susan

My guess is that Fetch sent the command "STOR sc_team_01.jpg" (STOR is the command to upload a file) and the first two characters were lost, resulting in the invalid "OR" command.

I've seen commands get truncated in this way as a result of bugs in devices (such as routers) that do Network Address Translation. When they translate the address in the PORT command (which comes before STOR) the new address sometimes is longer than what they started with, and if they don't handle that correctly they can overwrite the next two characters of the following command (i.e. the ST of STOR).

I would look for a firmware upgrade for your router. Also, I'd try checking the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences. That way Fetch will use the PASV command rather than PORT, and the translation issue won't come up.

    Thanks,

    HI Jim,
Below was a reply from you regarding an earlier problem I had, (Please see Mac Fetch to Windows_NT version 5.0 Server , 10-28-03.) So it seems this PASV is the cause of the problem. I can't upload at all to the Windows NT server if PASV is checked. Also, even before I unchecked PASV I had this problem uploading to other servers. I'm a designer and don't own any of the servers. No other work arounds?
    Thanks again!

posted 10-28-2003 11:18 AM Click Here to See the Profile for JimMatthews Edit/Delete Message Reply w/Quote It looks like the server is behind a Network Address Translation (NAT) device. The address it is advertising (192.168.1.51) is a private, internal address; unless your Mac is on the same network as the server passive mode won't work.

So I would uncheck the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box and post the transcript you get then. I would also get Fetch 4.0.3 from http://fetchsoftworks.com .

    Thanks,

It looks like you're stuck between two problems: the server doesn't allow PASV, and a bug in a router somewhere betwee your Mac and the server corrupts commands when you don't use PASV. If there is a router on your end of things I'd check to find out if there are firmware upgrades available that might fix this problem.

    Thanks,
