What versions of Mac OS, Fetch and BBEdit are you running? Have you tried restarting with a base extension set (in the Extensions Manager control panel)?

    i use Mac OS 9, Fetch 4.0.1, BBEdit 6.1

i tried resarting with Mac OS 9 Base setting. but my computer still freezes when i open the html files.

it is only a few files that freeze up my computer when i try to open them.
Other files i can open with no problem.

this problem only started a few days ago. Before that everything was working fine.

    thanks for replying

    ------------
    just another thing to add...

I tried working with a file i could open, but when i tried to save it, my computer froze again.

I would suggest upgrading to Fetch 4.0.2, which was released this week and is available from http://fetchsoftworks.com . Does that help any?

Are you using the "Edit with BBEdit..." command? If so I'd recommend trying to do things step-by-step instead:

    1) Download the HTML file with the Get button.
    2) Edit the file in BBEdit.
    3) Upload the changed file with the Put button.

Does your Mac freeze if you do that? If so, at which step?

    Thanks,
