I had been using 5.3(I guess) with NO PROBLEMS. All of a sudden it would not connect so I purchased 5.5.1 and nothing works either --was in touch several times with FSupport but no results. I have MAC 10.4.11 use Netscape 7.1 never Used Safari as was suggested-- thought I might wreck my Netscape Browser. Dont care if I have the latest just want one that works as last time I posted pages on my site. H-E-L-P!

Right now all are in my App Folder on the computer

    Hi Gwen,

So, when you try to connect to your server, you get an error? What error message do you get?

    Thanks,

    Hi Scott,

    OK--- Back from Vacation.

Back to my Fetch friend who is misbehaving.

Here’s the deal—Even though I downloaded 5.5.1 and paid on Aug 13th —the version that comes up when I click on the Fetch Icon on the side bar is 5.3.1

Do I have to trash the others in my App folder?

I really need step by step instructions similar to our Conversation [1352490] of Jul 11 2008

Holding my breath till I hear from you.

    Thank you,
    Gwen

    Hi Gwen,

Yes, it would be best to move all existing copies of Fetch from your Applications folder to the Trash, and then download and install Fetch 5.5.1. That should avoid the problem of ending up with an older version of Fetch when you want the new one.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Hi Scott,
5.5.1 is not available so it says if you purchased after Jan 28 09 download free 5.5.2

A dialogie box opened up and says---The file"Fetch_5.5.2.dmg" is of type application/octet-stream (Untyped Binary Data), and Netscape does not know how to handle this file type. This file is located at: http://getfetch5.com/
What should Netscape do with this file?
    • open it with________
    • save it to disk
    choose
    cancel
    OK

Right now all old versions and a 5.5.1 are in the trash but the dog icon is still on the dock.

5.5.1 is not available because we just released 5.5.2; you are correct to download 5.5.2 instead.

When Netscape asks you what to do with the file choose "Save it to disk". Then, once it has been downloaded, double-click the .dmg file.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gwen,

It sounds like you may not have used the correct information in the hostname or username fields when connecting.

If you could please do the following, we'll take a look and see if we have any other suggestions:

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Try connecting to your server.
    * After you receive the error, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gwen,

It looks like you entered yahoo.com for the hostname; that is almost certainly not correct. You need to enter the name of the server that you want to upload pages to; if you are not sure of that, you need to contact your hosting company (if you have one) to find out what the correct hostname to enter is. A hosting company is a company that provides and maintains server space for storing web pages, FTP files, etc. I don't know if yahoo.com provides such a service, but if they do, you would still need to enter something other than yahoo.com as the hostname, since yahoo.com is the address of their main website, not your website or FTP site.

For more information, please see our What do I enter in the hostname, username, and password? help topic.

Please let us know if you have questions after reading that over.

    Thanks,

    kazam!!!!!!!!!!!

Just before reading your latest-- I looked to my printer and there in a curled up old dirty post it was-----------the open sesame info--- but I was still afraid to try it till your note and "What do I do. . ." info verified my dopey suspicions. I can't tell you what a relief it was to have it work-- and by the way the last 3 help steps were very informative -- so maybe if I can retain this info I wont have to contact you again.

    But many, many tx.

    Gwen,

I have to edit my website www.giotto-copied-the-theater.com. I was recommended Fetch and I purchased the 5.5.2.
I can download the site for editing but I cannot upload it after it has been edited. The dog keeps on runnibg forever,

Could you email me more detailed instructions?

Do you know someone who could upload it for me?
