    I am trying to upload a file, but I keep getting a "Connection closed, Transfer aborted" message. What's going on?

    Hi,

    Is this a large file? If so, you may be running out of space ("quota") on your account on the server. If the transfer always aborts after the same amount has been uploaded, that is likely the problem. You might want to make sure you have enough space on the server to store the file.

    If that does not appear to be the problem, if you could please send us a Fetch transcript, we will take a look and try to figure out what's going on. To do this:

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Try uploading again.
    * Then choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    Thanks,

    Hi Scott; I have to say, we are totally dumbfounded. I seriously doubt that their server is full. There is another file up there already that is larger than mine, but not out of the norm for ftp servers. My file is roughly 17Mb. I am on a Mac, but we have also tried this from a PC. I have contacted the company, but have not gotten any response. Here is the transcript info:

    Hi Claire,

    So you've tried uploading the file from a PC and it failed in the same way, is that correct? Or did the file upload successfully on the PC?

    Was the PC on the same network as the Mac?

    Thanks for the transcript. The error you're getting back could mean "out of space" but it could also mean other things. Unfortunately, servers rarely give a useful message when they think you're out of space.

    Thanks,

    It did not go on the PC and yes, we are on the same network. Would it be "Us" that is out of space? Or "Them"

    Hi Claire,

    Okay, if it doesn't work on the PC either, then probably contacting the company who runs the server is what you need to do. I hope you hear back from them soon.

    It would be that "you" have used up the amount of space that "they" have allocated for you. You should ask them how much space they've allocated for you, and ask if you can get more.

    One way to confirm whether this is the problem or not would be to delete the large file that's already on the server, and then try uploading the new file; however, I imagine you aren't done with the file on the server yet - but I mention this for completeness.

    Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Thanks Scott. I have tried to contact them and they have not responded. I sent a pdf file via e-mail. Honestly! Do these people want our business or what?
