I've been trying to use the evaluation software but every time I try to connect I get a connection refused message. I've tried with passive mode on and off.

Please help. I know it's not the server because I can access it with a different freeware ftp program. Unfortunately the freeware doesn't have the options that fetch does and I would really like to make this work.

    Thank You.

Could you post (or email to support@fetchsoftworks.com) the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you see the error?

    Thanks,

The message I get isn't part of the transcript window. It comes in the form of a popup that reads:

Server response: Could not open data connection to port 8552: Connection refused.

Under status it says connected but the file list never appears.

That error is a restatement of something the server sent to Fetch, so it should be in the transcript window. To open the transcript window choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu.

You might try checking the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box in the Firewall section of Preferences.

As stated previously I haved tried connecting with & without the 'passive mode' box checked.

What follows is the contents of the transcript window.

    220-=(<*> )=-.:. (( Welcome to PureFTPd 1.0.12 )) .:.-=(<*> )=-
220-You are user number 2 of 50 allowed.
220-Local time is now 18:26 and the load is 0.85. Server port: 21.
220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.

230-User inherent has group access to: inherent
230 OK. Current restricted directory is /

My evaluation version has also expired now. Is there some type of guarantee that if I purchase a license it will work?

That actually isn't the transcript window, it's the server messages window. To open the Fetch Transcript window choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu.

You can keep using the trial copy until you know whether it will work. When you see the message about the trial expiring wait a few seconds and the "Next Time" button will be enabled.

    Thanks,

I just tried checking passive mode again and it connected this time. Maybe my server was just being a pain in the rear all this time...?
