constantly dropping connection (5 posts)

About 24 hours ago I was attempting to upload some very small files and in the middle of the second one, it stalled/disconnected. This problem continued through the rest of the day, even when I tried with other files.

Now it gives me a "dropped connection (server may be busy right now)" EVERY time I try to upload anything (and sometimes even when I'm just navigating the directories). My website and its files load just fine at good speed in my web browser, but Fetch isn't being any more cooperative than before.

    I'm out of ideas...

The next time you see a problem could you choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and post the contents?

    Thanks,

Well, I'm not getting the error message anymore. Now it's just stalling out. I got three jpgs through, but anything bigger and it just won't go.

    Here's what the transcript said:

    SYST
    215 UNIX Type: L8
    PWD
    257 "/" is current directory.
    MACB ENABLE
    500 MACB not understood

    STOR inciting_incident.mp3

I couldn't find anything weird in there. If it gives me that message again, I'll post the transcript for ya.

    Anything in there?

Sorry for the delay in responding. Unfortunately the transcripts don't offer much to go on, but it looks like your Internet connection is having trouble transmitting data. That would explain why you are only seeing problems uploading files (and not, say, browsing the web or reading email).

I would recommend trying a different FTP client; if you see the same problem you'll know it's a problem with your connection, and you can contact your ISP for assistance.

    Thanks,
