    hello
i would like to make a "drop box" folder at my server that requires a host name (number), password, etc. when a person has entered.
however, i do not want person to be able to see rest of my folders.
how do i do this? just make a path direct to the folder?

To do that you need the cooperation of the service provider (the company that owns and runs the server). I usually recommend setting up an anonymous ftp dropbox (for an example see the incoming folder at ftp.fetchsoftworks.com). Anyone can drop files into an anonymous ftp dropbox, but only the site owner can retrieve the files that have been dropped. So I would ask whether your hosting company supports anonymous ftp dropboxes.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jim,

Like Wayne, I also want to create a private exclusive area on our current ftp that a client can log in to and upload or download. Likewise, I don't want the client to see any other files or directories, just the one spot he logs into.

We had done this with a previous client, but have since lost the process documentation. I am pretty sure it was something we set up through Fetch and using our current ftp (in effect, partitioning part of our ftp storage space to accommodate the client's needs).

IS this something we did through Fetch, or am I not recalling that directly? Please let me know (and please excuse my ignorance),

    Many thanks,
    -Monte
