'date modified' incorrect for files on local disk (6 posts)

    Hi folks --

When uploading files from my local disk, I often like to view the local directory by 'date modified,' so that files I've just edited are easy to find.

But the dialog box that comes up when I click 'Put' doesn't always show the correct 'date modified' info. In other words, I've just edited and saved an HTML file, but when I go to select the file to upload, the 'date modified' is still an old date.

FYI, the 'date modified' field is correct when I look at the file in the Finder.

Why doesn't Fetch see that the file has been changed, if the Finder knows it's been changed?

    I'm using Fetch 5.0.2 on OS 10.3.9.

Thanks in advance for your help.

That's an Apple bug. I've reported it, and hopefully they will fix it in an OS X system update (I don't believe it's fixed in 10.4.2, but I'm not sure).

One way to get the Put sheet file list to update is to drag an item from the Finder into the sheet.

    Thanks,

I do not get any Date Modified info - just dashes on Mac OS 10.5 with Fetch 5.3. They appear in the normal Mac Finder, but not in Fetch Put. I am able to sort by that column so the newest come to the top which is very useful but not perfect. How do I make them appear?

    Hi Houfton,

The missing modification dates in the Put dialog on Mac OS X 10.5 are also the result of an Apple bug (different from the one mentioned above). We reported it to them some time ago but unfortunately they haven't been quick to fix it.

However, we are beta testing a new version of Fetch that includes a workaround for the problem. If you would like to give that version a try - and join the Fetch beta test list - please send an email to:

    bugs at fetchsoftworks dot com

with the subject "beta test" and a short explanation about why you'd like to test it (the info you posted here is fine). Then you can let us know if the beta version fixes the problem for you, and about any other feedback you might have.

    Thanks,
