I am trying to delete some images off my website and replace them with new ones. Fetch will delete them but the change does not occure on the site?! How do I get it to occure on the site as well? (Keep in mind I am very new to this so you'll have to use very simple terms).

    Hi,

It may be that there are two copies of your website on the server, and you are deleting images in the wrong copy - that is, not the one that the server is displaying.

Using Fetch, you should look around the folders on your server and see if you can find another copy of your website. The "real" copy may be in a folder named "public_html", "htdocs", or "www" — the exact name of the folder will depend on your server.

Let us know if this helps.

    Thanks,

Weird thing is, I asked a friend to look on my website. The changes took place. So I just can't see them on my computer!? Maybe cause I'm using a Mac? Maybe I set up Safari wrong? I don't know what's going on.
    Thanks

    Hi,

No, I don't think this has to do with being on a Macintosh. Sometimes, to improve speed, web browsers keep local copies of webpages (called "caching"), and they are supposed to notice when the webpages have changed and show you the updates. Every once in a while, they fail to show you the updates, especially when you've been viewing the same page a lot recently (as you do when you're making changes to one!). It sounds like this is what's happening to you. This can happen on both Macs and Windows computers.

    Try the following in Safari:

    * View one of your changed webpages.
    * Choose "Reload Page" from the "View" menu.

If you still don't see the updates, try doing this:

    * Go to the Safari menu, and choose "Empty Cache".
    * Then view one of your changed webpages.
    * Choose "Reload Page" from the "View" menu.

You should hopefully see your changes now.

    Thanks,
