The "dog won't stop" problem happens when Fetch is waiting for some confirmation from the server that an operation is done, and that confirmation does not show up. The root cause may be a problem with the server or network, or with Fetch; it's hard to tell.

Error -3208 means that Fetch tried to use a connection that had gone away. That probably means that Fetch's networking code has gotten into a bad state.

what do you suggest in terms of dealing with the possibility that "fetch's network code has gotten into a bad state" as you put it.

    i am using 3.03 btw

I would suggest trying Fetch 4.0. If the problem continues, particularly if there's a sequence of commands that always causes it, then I'd like to hear about it so I can try to figure out what is going on.
