Can you open it that way?

Yes, /var/log expands to /private/var/log. Could you email system.log to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com ?

I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.5.8,
I downloaded Fetch_5.7.1 and each time I try to open it, it says "The following disk images failed to mount" It also says that there's no mountable file systems. So I tried downloading Fetch_5.6 and I'm still getting the same message and I have no idea what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Tracy,
I would first try restarting your Mac. Can you open the disk image then?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

I restarted my Mac twice and it's still showing the same message. Even downloaded Fetch_5.6.dmg just in case and it's the same message.

Hi Tracy,
I'd recommend using the Disk Utility to verify the Fetch_5.6.dmg file. To do that:
1) Choose "Utilities" from the Go menu in the Finder
2) Open Disk Utility
3) Choose "Verify..." from the Images menu, and choose Fetch_5.6.dmgWhat does Disk Utility say?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

"Disk Utility Progress" Unable to attach "Fetch_5.6.dmg". (no mountable file systems)

It also says that Image "Fetch_5.6.dmg" Verified

If you select Fetch_5.6.dmg in the Finder, and choose Get Info from the File menu, what is the file size shown (in bytes)?
-
Jim Matthews Administrator
That's the correct CRC32 value, so your copy of the file has not been corrupted. The only explanation I can think of is that there is something wrong with your OS X installation that keeps it from mounting a valid disk image. I've seen that before, but it's always cleared up after a restart.
My next recommendation would be to reinstall OS X, and system updates. Alternatively, if there's a convenient Apple Store you could take your Mac to the genius bar, and they should be able to help.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

The file size is 18,292,777 bytes.
I just restarted my laptop.. and again it doesn't work. I may just take this to an Apple Store.
Thank you so much for your help!! I really appreciate it

I just downloaded the 5.7.3 update and it will not launch on my computer.
I'm running 10.6.8 and do not have the codec file you indicated. I tried downloading 5.6 and it works fine, but the upgrade does not.
Any suggestions? I've tried the things i've seen in the thread and they have not solved my issue.
Thanks

Hi,
What happens when you try to open Fetch 5.7.3? Do you get an error message?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Nothing happens... it just doesn't open. I don't get any error message at all.
I will launch from applications menu, it asks me if it's ok to launch a program downloaded from internet... then after that, nothing.

There might be error information in Fetch.log or system.log. To find Fetch.log:
* In the Finder, choose "Go to Folder…" from the Go menu and enter:
~/Library/com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch/Logs
and click Go
To find system.log:
* In the Finder, choose "Go to Folder…" from the Go menu and enter:
/var/log
and click Go
If you could send those files to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com I'll see if I can figure out what is going wrong.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hi there. I downloaded Fetch 5.7.3.dmg and wanted to try it out on my new OS 10.8.2. But was unable to mount it.
Base on your last message, i did the following seach for the Fetch logs, it says "no such folder for ~/Library/com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch/Logs"
I had separately send an email of the system.log files to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com.

I don't see the email with your system.log; could you resend it?
Also, could you say what error message you get when you try to mount the Fetch_5.7.3.dmg disk image?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews
