i use unix lne breaks for all html work i do. i am wondering what the suggested format is for dowloading/uploading to maintain the unix line breaks. also, is there a way to assign this to the preferences? ideally, i would like to use 'automatic'. however, when i use 'automatic' feature it changes the line breaks to macintosh format upon download. please advise.

It sounds like you should set the default download mode to Binary (do that in the Download section of Preferences). It's okay for the default upload format to be Automatic; Fetch's text uploading can handle files with Unix (or DOS) line endings.
