Downloading files with Automator (4 posts)

I'm trying to set-up an Automator workflow to download files from a specific folder to a folder on my computer.

    After I tried this:
    1. Get Specified Fetch Items (indicating the folder)
    2. Get Fetch Folder Contents
    3. Download Fetch Items

It is downloading the folder (with all the contents) and then also the contents of the folder separately.

I tried adding Get Selected Fetch Items between 2 and 3 and everything seemed to work, but the files were not downloaded.

If I take out step 2, it dowloads the whole folder (including the contents). This is better than nothing, but I'd prefer to just get the contents.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Hi,

In order to just get the contents of the folder, use the steps you list here, but insert a Filter Fetch Items action between "Get Fetch Folder Contents" and "Download Fetch Items."

In the Filter Fetch Items action, specify "Whose Name is not equal to <name of the folder>"; replace <name of the folder> with the name of the folder whose contents you are downloading. Then everything except the enclosing folder will be downloaded.

(This assumes that you do not have file or subfolder inside the enclosing folder with the same name as the enclosing folder.)

I realize this is a little clunky, and we'll take this as feedback that the "Get Fetch Folder Contents" needs an "excluding original folder" option.

Let us know if this suggestion doesn't do what you want, or if you have more questions.

    Thanks,
