Edit htaccess - Not Responding must Force Quit (4 posts)

Trying to "Edit" htaccess files. Fetch doesn't not respond and must Force Quit. Using the latest Fetch version on Mac Mountain Lion 10.8.2

Use "Text Wrangler" as default editor for other Fetch files. Others open fine but not htaccess.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for reporting this problem. Do you see this problem if you choose Edit With > TextWrangler from the Remote menu (instead of clicking the Edit button)?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the quick reply! I did see the same issue using Edit With > TextWrangler. However, your response reminded me to double-check my default text editor for the htaccess file. Using "Get Info", I saw that "TextEdit" was still selected. I changed this to "Text Wrangler" and now it works. This resolves my issue. However, someone using TextEdit as the default for an htaccess file might encounter the same problem.

I'm glad to hear that fixed the problem. I'm not sure why TextEdit would have a problem editing .htaccess files, but in general I've found that TextWrangler works better with Fetch than TextEdit.

    Thanks,
