I have an iMac 233 (original Bondi blue!) running OS X. I've downloaded MIT's Kerberos for Macintosh (KfM) v4.0a12 and configured it for use with the University of Michigan's Kerberos 4 servers. When I attempt to connect to the U of M's ftp server using KClient, Fetch invokes KfM, and KfM issues a ticket. But then Fetch responds with "Error -20008", which is undocumented but no doubt is related to Kerberos.

    The transcript reveals the following:

Connecting to ftp.ifs.umich.edu port 21 (5/15/01 8:36:34 AM)220-220- #### #### You have connected to the University of Michigan.220- #### #### Send questions or comments to: itd-login-admin@umich.edu 220- ######### 220- ### # ### Use implies consent to the guidelines detailed at: 220- #### #### http://www.umich.edu/~wwwitd/policies/usepolicy.html220-220- THIS IS NOT AN ANONYMOUS FTP SERVER220-220 galaxian.gpcc.itd.umich.edu FTP server (wu-2.4.2-umich[BETA-13]) ready.ADAT503 Must identify AUTH type before ADATAUTH KERBEROS_V4334 Using authentication type KERBEROS_V4; ADAT must follow

That's when the error is presented by Fetch. Do you have any idea why I can't get Fetch to work with KfM under OS X? Thanks.

That error is a Kerberos error that means "Principal not found". You might check whether the FTP server you are connecting to has an account for your Kerberos principal.

I get something similar [also in the UMich environment] when I try to connect to our IFS servers.
    I'm on OS9.1, Fetch 4, KClient 1.1 or so.

I get an error -35, transcript tells me::

503 Must identify AUTH type before ADAT
    AUTH KERBEROS_V4
334 Using authentication type KERBEROS_V4; ADAT must follow

I'm not sure what Kerberos principle is, but since most everything on campus supports Kerberos, I'd imagine it's there.

Fetch requires KClient 1.8 or later. A -35 error means that a volume (e.g. hard disk) was not found. I'm not sure what that means. Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window?

    Thanks,
