I get a message that says, "The file........could not be decoded because an error has occured. (Stuffit Engine error 17543)." Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

That error number indicates that the archive being decoded is in a newer format than the version of StuffIt Engine that Fetch is using to decode it. Could you choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu, and send the first two lines from that window? That will tell me what version of StuffIt Engine is being used.

    Thanks,

Fetch 5.3 (5D161) PowerPC running on Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S165) PowerPC English
StuffIt Engine 0x820, StuffIt SDK Version 10.1.1b1

Hope this is what you need - Thanks!

Thanks. That's an up-to-date StuffIt engine, so I wonder if the error code might be misleading.

I would select the file you want to download, click Get Info, and uncheck "Automatically decode files like this" under Transfer Options. Then download the file, and try expanding it by double-clicking in the Finder. Does that work?

You can re-enable automatic decoding (by checking the Automatically decode files like this checkbox) afterwards.

    Thanks,
