I am using Fetch 4.0.2, and am getting error messages each time I go to retrieve files from an FTP site ("Error: The server does not believe you have permission to take that action"). It does not prevent me from accessing the files, however.

But here's my real problem. I just tried to upload files to the same FTP site, and got another message ("Server Response: Permission denied"), and this time I am prevented from doing so. How can I get around this? Is this a bug in the software, or maybe just the copy I have is corrupted?

Thanks so much for your help!

Those messages are coming from the server, so apparently the server does not think you have permission to upload files. Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you get the error message? Choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu to see the transcript.

    Thanks,

I am having the same problem, using Fetch 4.0.2 under OS 10.1.5. After troubleshooting the server with our IP company, we determined that other FTP clients work, Fetch doesn't. I am behind a network firewall and have passive transfers enabled. From the same computer, I was able to successfully send a file to the site using UNIX commandline.

The server is complaining about the file name. I would try with a file name that does not have any spaces.

    Thanks,

Removing the file name spaces appears to please the server. Does it make sense to create a preferences option to replace file name spaces with hyphens before uploading a file?

It probably does -- thanks for the suggestion!
