error: the connection attempt timed out (2 posts)

    the subject is the error message i get: "error: the connection attempt timed out."

    the transcript is as follows (not too illuminating, i must say)

    Connecting to hikago.easynet.de port 21 (6/25/04 9:30:55 AM)

    I am working on a slow dial-up connection; if i had a faster connection, would it work?
    FYI: i have the PASV settings on; it didn't work with them off, either, and i get the exact same type of error message.

    It looks like the hikago.easynet.de server is not running. Are you sure that is the correct hostname? I would check with the server administrator to be sure.
