    It means that the FTP server is sending a response line that is longer than
    255 characters, and Fetch can't handle that. The server administrator
    should be able to fix the problem (it's probably some informational text
    that doesn't have any line endings).

    That's right. I should add that Fetch 4.0 will handle long lines without reporting them as an error.
