    OSX El Cap
    Fetch 5.6.7

Fetch says "An FTP Connection to "URL.COM" could not be opened because the FTP server dropped the connection

This happens on my laptop after I "upgraded" to Mac OS Sierra. Checking about this Mac shows it still running El Cap.

I can connect to my server using Finder > Go > Connect to Server... I can download from it as well. Fetch connects from my MacPro at my studio using screen share from this location. My students and I depend on Fetch to get assignments back and forth. Some students are on El Cap and Sierra some can connect with Fetch and some can't. Please help. (I suspect a Mac OS issue not Fetch...)

    Hi,

Have you tried restarting the computer that can't connect?

    Thanks,

Yes restarting has no effect on the issue.

Interestingly, Fetch works from my network but not from the school's. Is there a port that they might have closed to keep Fetch from connecting?

Yes, if they closed port 21 that would explain the problem.

    Thanks,
