I have a Mac at work (OSX 10.2.6) that I occasionally FTP files to or from. Two things concern me about this.

Firstly, the Mac OS X FTP server does not seem to know about MACB, so therefore loses all the Mac-specific information about a file.

Secondly, when I send a text file to the machine, it always ends up with lines terminated with line feeds (Unix standard) rather than carriage returns (Mac standard).

Anyone have any ideas if anything can be done about this?

(My home Mac is OS X 10.2.6 and Fetch 4.0.3 with PASV mode checked.)

    Thanks

    David

It is too bad that Apple's FTP server doesn't support MACB; hopefully they will change this in a future release. If you are uploading files you can use StuffIt Deluxe or DropStuff to stuff them first, preserving all the Mac-specific information. Fortunately for this situation Mac-specific information is becoming less necessary.

If the text files on your computer have carriage returns you can preserve them by uploading in Raw Data format (rather than Automatic or Text).

    Thanks,
