i'm trying a demo for fetch 3 AND 4, but sofar...
well, all went very well, except that when i delete index.html and put a newer index.html, it doesn't update.
i've also tried just deleting index.html but that won't work.

So you see the old page, even though you've uploaded a new one, or just deleted the old one? You should try hitting the Refresh button in your web browser while holding down the Option key -- that tells it to get a new copy of the page from the server.

    Thanks,

    no, that won't help either...
i've just quadruplechecked the actual file i'm trying to update and it checks out fine, also when i'm testing it in my browser.
i have an OS 9.1 and netscape 7.0

In that case the most likely explanation is that you're making changes in a different directory than the one holding the actual file being sent out to web browsers. Your web service provider should be able to help straighten that out.
