FETCH install problem (8 posts)

So, I downloaded FETCH from the link I got with my online receipt. All it downloaded though was a document with a white icon called fetch_5.3.dmg. When I try to open it it acts like it's opening, but nothing opens. I tried putting it in my applications folder but that didn't work either.

How do I continue the install/ get the program to open?

    Hi,

It sounds like the Finder isn't displaying the contents of the disk image after its opened. When you double-click on Fetch_5.3.dmg, you should get a new icon titled "Fetch Installer" and a new window with the Fetch icon should appear.

Usually restarting your Macintosh, then trying to open the disk image again, will fix the problem.

Please try that and let us know if you're still having problems. (And if you continue to have problems, please let us know which version of Mac OS you're using.)

    Thanks,

Okay, I re-started my computer, but it is still having the same problem. It thinks for a minute but never opens anything.

    I am using Mac OS X v10.4

    Hi,

Okay, next I would try putting the copy of Fetch_5.3.dmg that you have in the Trash, and downloading a new copy, and try opening it. It's possible that your first download was corrupted in some way.

Here is the download link again:

    http://fetchsoftworks.com/Fetch5.dmg

If that doesn't work, let us know and I will see about providing it in a different form.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

Yeah, unfortunately I tried that before I wrote on here since I thought that might be the problem. It has done the same thing both times I downloaded it though. No change.

    Hi,

Okay, thanks for trying that. I have uploaded a copy of the application as a zip file for you. You can download it using this link:

    http://getfetch.com/Fetch_5.3.zip

If the zip file doesn't decompress automatically after being downloaded, double-click on the zip icon. Then drag the resulting dog icon to your Applications folder.

Please let me know if you are able to successfully open, install, and run this copy of Fetch.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Great, I'm glad to hear that worked.

You may want to consider starting your Mac off of the installation CD/DVD that it came with and running Disk Utility to make sure there are no problems. The disk image files we use to distribute Fetch is a standard Mac OS X disk image - many other Mac software downloads are distributed in the same way - so the fact that you could not open it even after restarting may be a sign of some problem with your Mac OS X install. I can't be sure what's going on, of course, but just a thought.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,
