First, I understand nothing about the technical details on security. I must work on a web hosting server (ReadyHosting.com) which supports FrontPage and something called 128-bit secure socket layers. Is there any way that I can FTP password and data to this server securely from my Mac (yes, I do have Fetch--a nice, easy-to-use program).

My guess is that the secure socket layer (SSL) support is for web browsers visiting your site (e.g. it would make it possible for users to enter credit card numbers in web forms securely). You could ask ReadyHosting whether they support sftp or FTP-over-SSL. Fetch does not support those currently, however, so you'd need to use a different file transfer program.

    Thanks,
