Fetch won't open in one location (3 posts)

  Using my own ISP (Virgin) I cannot connect. I get a dialogue box that says:

  "An FTP connection to ftp.dawton.com could not be opened because the FTP server dropped the connection."

  But when I take my laptop to the office or elsewhere it connects fine.

  In all other ways (email, browsers) my ISP seems to work fine.

  Any ideas. It is very frustrating.

  Hi,

  Have you contacted Virgin about this? It sounds like a problem with their service.

  No I haven't but I had heard that ISPs can close down specific ports? If nobody had an answer that was going to be my next move but it's no fun trying to get help at Virgin!
