I am a prepress professional receiving files from customers via our FTP site. We have a customer who has been having an issue using fetch from their end?..not positive this is the case, but he keeps getting the error...

Fetch could not get "nameoffile" because FTP server
    > encountered an error accessing a file or folder.

Any ideas what this could be.

    Thanks!

    Hi Jen,

Is the user trying to upload or download a file?

If they are uploading, it could be that the name of the file they are trying to upload has a character in it that your FTP server doesn't like. Ask the customer to make sure they don't have anything besides letters, numbers, or underscores in the file name. (Spaces, quotes, ampersands can all potentially cause problems.)

If they are having a problem downloading a file, that sort of error would be harder to explain; usually it would indicate that the user is either trying to download a file they don't have permission to download (or a folder that contains a file that they don't have permission to download), or some sort of server error.

If it's not the filename problem, we need to see a transcript from Fetch from the user to make a more definitive guess at problem is. You could either put the client in touch with us, or we can tell you what to tell the user to do to get that information. Let us know.

If they want to get in touch with us, they can do it here through the message board, or by contacting

    support at fetchsoftworks dot com

    Thanks,

    Hi Scott,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

The customer is trying to upload, and I have noticed that some of his files do have spaces in the zipped names. If this does not fix the problem, I will either get him in touch with you or get a transcript from him to send to you.

Thanks again for your prompt reply!
    Sincerely,
    Jen
