experiencing some upload/download issues. one of the strange symptoms involved this sequence of events-
    1) seeing what appeared to be a successfully uploaded quicktime file of 269 mb.
    2) the recipient tried to download it and it was smaller and incomplete.
    3) i then tested the file size by starting a download and seeing the file size correctly displayed in the fetch window as 269 mb file size.
    4) i then stopped the download, and in the fetch window the file size, still on the server, has dropped to 249 mb.
    5) the recipient then attempted another download that was incomplete again.

since the files always seem to live on the server after uploading, regardless of downloading, i'm perplexed by the file size dropping and the file seemingly corrupted...

    thnx for any insights!

and- i just uploaded a different quicktime file, 363.8 mb successfully, quit and reopened fetch, and the file size has dropped to 293.4 mb, and reportedly incomplete when recipient attempted download (also displayed as 293.4 mb on his end). i also now tried to download it, and it came in at 293.4 mb, incomplete and won't open in qt.

also- how to determine fetch prefs > general > default ftp app? mine is currently 'finder.app 10.6.8' but i see fetch is an option, (currently the default sftp app is 'fetch 4.0.3' even tho' i have the latest fetch 5.7.3 installed...)

    Hi,

Thanks for posting. Could you try these steps?

    1) Upload a big file
    2) Choose Refresh from the View menu -- does the displayed files size for the uploaded file change?
    3) Choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, and post the contents -- I'll see what I can figure out

    Thanks,

well... maybe this was an anomaly of yesterday; i did what you suggested and i tried to recreate some of what happened yesterday but the file sizes remain correct. i'll send the transcript if you wish, but it probably won't reflect the issues i was having yesterday.

btw- any advice on my other question excerpted here: "also- how to determine fetch prefs > general > default ftp app? mine is currently 'finder.app 10.6.8' but i see fetch is an option, (currently the default sftp app is 'fetch 4.0.3' even tho' i have the latest fetch 5.7.3 installed...)"

thanks so much for your responses!

    Hi,

It shouldn't matter which version of Fetch is displayed in the "Default SFTP application" menu, so I wouldn't worry about that. I'm not sure what you mean by "how to determine fetch prefs > general > default ftp app?" Could you clarify?

    Thanks,

    sure-
if i go to fetch prefs > general > default FTP app, i have several choices:
    1) fetch 4.0.3 (tho' i have the later update 5.7.3 installed; not sure what 4.0.3 refers to),
    2) finder.app 10.6.8,
    3) google chrome,
    4) firefox, and
    5) cyberduck.
i see in the tutorials the image has fetch chosen for both FTP and SFTP; my FTP is set at "finder.app 10.6.8" and my SFTP is set at fetch 4.0.3. i couldn't find online how to determine the best choice. any ideas on that?

    thanks again,
    c

The Default FTP Application is the one that will be opened if, for example, you click on an ftp:// link. That isn't a very common scenario, so it probably doesn't matter what setting you have. But if you want Fetch to open you should set the menu to Fetch 4.0.3, since that's the only Fetch version it's offering. In all likelihood Fetch 5.7.3 will be opened instead.

    Thanks,
