O.K. this may be a dumb question but hey…I want to know what the various upload preferences mean.

I do work for a client that has a mac based art department. I am mac based. I FTP Adobe Illustrator files up onto my FTP site and when he gets them back down he has to decode them. If I attach them to an email he has much less trouble. The problem is that the e-mail is unrealiable. His company has problems many times with its email server etc. So we have been using the FTP route which works well but I want it to work better for him. I have had the Upload preference set to BinHex. He says that he has to uncompress the files when he gets them. I want him to get plain old adobe illustrator files with the icon still intact if that is possible. Or at the very least the file ready to open in illustrator without him having to unpack, uncompress, unzip whatever to it.

What do the other options mean i.e. "Apple Single", "MacBinary III"?

What should I set the preference to?

    Your help is much appreciated.

What does your client use to downlaod the files from your FTP site?
