FTP connection can not be opened (2 posts)

  My hostname, username, and password are all correct. I am using the PTP connection. Every time I try to connect the connection times out, yet my internet connection is fine. I am assuming that this is due to an incorrect username or password, but as I mentioned before, I am certain that I am using the correct hostname, username, and password (the same as with my hostmonster account). Any suggestions? I am stuck.

  Hi Cheryl,

  You can also receive this message if there is a problem with the server - it may be offline or not accepting connections for some reason. So while your Internet connection may be working fine, the computer you are trying to reach over the Internet may not be working.

  The best thing to do is contact the company or people who run the server, and ask if there are problems with it, and if they say there aren't, verify that you have the correct hostname, username, and password, and if you still can't connect, ask them why not.
