FTP connection refused (9 posts)

    Mac OS X 10.4.4
    System Firewall disabled
    Norton Personal Firewall v 3.1 (023) enabled
    Fetch 5.0.5 (plain vanilla installation)
    Host: gate.com

FTP connection attempted through New Connection dialog box. I entered the same Username and Password that allows me to login to my user area of gate.com. Fetch returns the following error message: "FTP connection to "gate.com" could not be opened because the connection was refused. Contact the server administrator for more information." I used cut and paste to ensure correctly-spelled Username and Password.

Further information: Connection still refused when Norton Firewall is disabled.

    Hi,

After you try to connect and the connection is refused, could you please choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the contents of the transcript window, and paste them here? We'll take a look and try to figure out what's going on.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

Driver error. Sorry for any wasted cycles. I should have entered my Hostname, that of the website I'm trying to upload, not the Hostname of my Hosting company.

    Hi rubiksquare,

I did some tests here and the FTP server is refusing connections; so it is a problem with the server. Unfortunately, all you can do is contact the folks who run the server (your hosting provider) and wait for them to respond and look into it.

Sorry, I wish we could provide you a quick fix. If you still have questions after talking to them, let us know.

    Thanks,
