"get" files to specific folder (2 posts)

On MAC System 10, anyone know how to get Fetch to put files it "gets" from a server in a specific file on the computer, instead of just downloading it all onto your desktop? (Can't see an option to select a destination folder, nor where to set anything as preferences on the Mac it self -- all downloads just automatically go to the desktop, creating a huge mess!)
    Thank you!

Yes, to avoid downloading files to the desktop every time, you can either set a different download folder or tell Fetch to ask you where to save files every time.

In Fetch 5, choose Preferences from the Fetch menu, and click the Download tab. From the "Save downloaded files to" pop-up menu, choose either "Ask every time" to be asked every time where you want to save the files to, or choose "Other" to select a new download folder.

In Fetch 4, choose Preferences from the Fetch menu, and click the Download tab. Uncheck the "Use download folder" option to be asked every time where you want to save the files to, or leave it checked and click on the button to the right of "Use download folder" to select a new download folder.

Another alternative is instead of double-clicking on the file or clicking on the Get button, you can drag the files from the Fetch transfer window to the desired Finder folder or window.

Let us know if this does not help. Thanks,
