  When I select a folder and choose Get Info, Fetch just loops through get file list, get folder, get name, etc forever (hours!). I want to change permissions on a folder.

  Any thoughts?

  Hi Robert,

  Fetch is trying to calculate the size of the contents of the folder, which requires it looking at all the contents - which takes a while if you have a lot of files (it sounds like you do).

  But you can avoid this and set permissions quickly with the Get Quick Info command. It gets the rest of the info without calculating the size of the contents; when you use Get Quick Info the info window should appear immediately.

  Just hold down the Option key when clicking the Get Info button or choosing Get Info from the Remote menu to do Get Quick Info instead.
