    I am unable to see the file list beacause it hangs on 'Status: Getting File List'
    Here is the transcript:
    Connecting to nipdftp1.newsint.co.uk port 21 (6/12/04 10:21:47 am)
    220 NI FTP Server ready:
    USER SPCuser1
    331 Password required for SPCuser1.
    PASS
    230 User SPCuser1 logged in.
    SYST
    215 UNIX Type: L8
    PWD
    257 "/" is current directory.
    MACB ENABLE
    500 MACB not understood
    PWD
    257 "/" is current directory.
    PWD
    257 "/" is current directory.
    EPSV
    229 Entering Extended Passive Mode (|||33233|)
    LIST
    421 No Transfer Timeout (300 seconds): closing control connection.
    ftp_list: -30001 (state == GETTING_LIST)
    QUIT
    send_cmd():con_conn->Putline() returns -3155

    When it hangs the transcript is upto 229 Entering Extended Passive Mode....

    My best guess is that the server has a firewall that blocks passive mode connections. I would uncheck the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox in the Firewall section of Preferences, and make sure that there's no firewall running on your Mac (e.g. if you are running OS X, turn off the firewall in the Sharing panel of System Preferences).

    Thanks,

    I think this is related to the Apple 'Security Update 2004-12-02'.
    Many people have reported connection problems of all types since installing this update.

    See http://www.macfixit.com/

    I checked the link that Paul supplied but was unable to find a fix to this problem. Is there one available, or should I boot from an earlier version of the operating system? Thanks …

    If you are seeing this problem I'd recommend creating a new topic and posting the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you see a problem.
