My Fetch login is no longer accepted and I can't tell if I've forgotten the password or if it's a problem with the hostname or userid, which were both working fine before.

Please, what do I try next?

You should contact the service provider that runs the server you are trying to connect to -- they should be able to check the Host and User ID information you are entering, and reset your password if necessary.

I've spoken with my service provider and confirmed that I have the right userid and password, but Fetch is still not accepting it. They suggested I delete it from my Fetch program and start again, but I can't figure out how to do that - I tried deleting it as a directory, but it keeps telling me I don't have a file name so it can't do that.

    please help....

    thx, Joy

If the user id and password are correct then the name in the Host field must be incorrect; a problem with any of those three can result in a "login incorrect" message from the server.

Just to be clear, Fetch connects to the server you name in the Host field, and sends it what you typed in the User ID and Password fields. Then the server says whether the information was valid. Fetch has no idea whether the information is valid, it's just the middle-man.

I'm not sure what you mean by deleting the user id and password from Fetch. If you mean deleting a shortcut you created with incorrect user id and password information, to do that you would:

    1) Choose "Fetch Shortcuts" from the Window menu.
    2) Click on the shortcut you want to delete.
    3) Choose "Remove Shortcut..." from the Customize menu.

    Thanks,
