What information am I suppose to put in that screen, and how do I set the preferences ...I currently have a host site with 25mb of storage for my files which I upload to. What information am I suppose fill in and how do I get to the setup to get started. PLEASE HELP !!!

Are you referring to the Host, User ID and Password fields in the New Connection window? Those refer to your account on the server that you want to transfer files with. Your web service provider should be able to tell you the name of the FTP server hosting your site (put that in the Host field), the name of your account on the server (put that in the User ID field) and your password.

    um.. another "getting started" question...
I have installed Fetch 4.0, I registered and have my serial number, but...

not only is it not required, but I can't seem to be able to connect. I do have an FTP account, but when I try to make a new connnection, I am told there is a password error (which isn't the case) and I should first agree with the general rules (or something close). I can't find anything of the sort ? Where haven't I looked ? What is the serial number for ?

They are really the only ones who can tell you what your user name and password are (and they should have told you when you set up your account). I would love to be able to tell any user what to put in the New Connection window, but to do that I'd have to know every password for every account on every server on the net. The password for your account is supposed to be a secret, which keeps your account secure but makes things difficult when you don't know what it is.

If your service provider can not be contacted I would recommend using another one. I've had good luck with pair.com.

    Thanks,

In the New Connection window you enter a host name, user id and password, and a password error message can mean that any one (or more than one) of those pieces of information is wrong. What are you entering in the Host field?

What is the serial number for ?

To show that you have a licensed copy of Fetch rather than an expiring trial version.

Thanks for the reply, but... *coughs*

    well, the host is perso-ftp.wanadoo.fr.
When I enter my ID and the password that goes with it, I get a message saying "wrong password - access to this service only available after you have accepted the general conditions of use" (my bad translation from French here)

    What is wrong ?

I asked about the serial number because it was never requested anywhere.

    heeeeeeelp !

    Sorry..

    - which doesn't meet I won't be back here soon for more silly questions !! ha ha ;)
