How to transfer old Fetch shortcuts/prefs to 10.6 without Finder crashing (2 posts)

I had been using Fetch 4 but I see my /Users/Library/Preferences/ finder window crashes when it tries to display the old Fetch shortcuts/prefernces files.

Is there a way once I install the the latest Fetch to have it import my old Fetch prefs so they won't crash the 10.6 Finder?

    Thanks!

    Hi John,

When you run Fetch 5.6 it will import your old Fetch prefs and shortcuts. So once you've run Fetch 5.6 once you can delete those files.

To delete files in a folder that the Finder won't open I would recommend searching for the files by name and dragging them from the results to the trash. If that does not work, you could use Terminal. Let me know if you could use more specific directions on using Terminal to delete files.

    Thanks,
