I hoped Fetch 5.0.1 would fix this but I still can't get it to work. All the html icons in the Fetch window are Safari - I want them to be BBEdit icons.

If I upload html files with BBEdit icons, they change to Safari in Fetch. When I download them, they change on my Mac from BBEdit to Safari icons. Help please.

P.S. I didn't have this problem with Fetch 4; it just started happening with Fetch 5. Thanks.

Restarting computer apparently solved the problem along with the Fetch upgrade. Thanks.

    Hi Cindy,

Good to hear that the problem fixed itself this time. If in the future Fetch isn't showing you the icon you want for a certain kind of file, you can use the Get Info feature of Fetch to change which application those files will open with.

See the "Changing the application a file opens with" topic in the Fetch Help for more information on how to do this.

    Thanks,

I actually did read this in the help section and today it makes perfect sense. Guess I was in a brain haze the other day - I kept trying the get info in the finder, not Fetch. Thanks.

I am having a similar problem with Fetch 5.0.4 and Mac OS 10.4.3. My problem is only cosmetic it appears, but its annoying. Fetch often does not show the correct icon of file types (.swf for example). I just see the blank icon. When I download the file, instead of getting the correct icon, I see the Fetch "partially downloaded" icon. The file opens in the correct app, but does not have the right icon. Thoughts?? My old ftp program never had this problem.

Actually, the problem with icons in 10.4.3 is different from what Cindy was seeing above.

Apple introduced a bug in the Finder in 10.4.3 where downloaded files often do not get the correct icon until you either move or rename the file, or log out, and that is probably what you are seeing. It is just cosmetic - the files will open in the correct program if you double-click on them - but we agree that it's not desirable.

We are talking with Apple and looking into workarounds.

I should have mentioned, if it helps, when it happens the file often appears as though it has the icon, then I click on it and it disappears. It seems to have no relation to whether I can see the icon "in" Fetch, or not. I wonder if this is the same issue in the app?
