I'm getting different server messages. (3 posts)

    Hello, I'm getting three different server messages in last few days and I am so confused why this is happening.
    Please help me to solve this problem.
    I'm using Fetch 4.0.1 with Mac OS 9.2.2.

    I recently changed the server(Linux), and I am not able to connect to them at all.
    First few days I got server message
    "NO PORT command first" (I couldn't upload anything, but I could see the file listings.)
    and after that I got
    "Can't Build data connection:Connection Refused" (Couldn't connect at all)
    And now I'm getting
    "If you do not disconnect, your password will sent over network insecurely..." (Even I choose "ignore", I still get message "Connection Refused".)

    I asked my server's tech support if this is the server problem, but they say the server don't have such problem, and they told me "If you uncheck the PASV mode box, it should work." (PASV mode box was unchecked from beginning.)

    It seems I get different server messages everytime I change the Internet Config settings, but "Use Internet Config" box was always unchecked.

    My best guess is that you are behind a firewall that rejects incoming connections. The standard workaround is to turn on "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)", but it sounds like your server might not support that.

    Can you connect to ftp.fetchsoftworks.com (leave the User ID and Password field blank) with PASV unchecked? How about with it checked?

    I tried ftp.fetchsoftworks.com and I was be able to log on with both checked and unchecked PASV mode.
    Do you have any idea what this means?
