Image files not uploading on ftp (8 posts)

    Hi there,

    I have been having a re-occurring issue for large image files (i'm currently uploading images individually which are 800kb each in size) but Fetch doesn't seem to complete the upload and at 565kb of upload, it stalls and soon after restarts the upload itself. It never completes itself, and I usually cancel after 10 minutes of waiting. Just wondering if you know how to resolve, as I am in need to FTP-ing these files for a photography gallery.

    Thanks.

    I have been having the same problem for the last few days. I can't get Fetch to check for updates either and I know there's a new one. Is there a server problem??

    Hi Soph,

    When your uploads always stall at the same place, typically that indicates you are out of space in your account on the server - there is no room left to upload the files. So the first thing to do is to check with the photography gallery and make sure there is enough space left on your account on their server to upload new files. If you are out of space, then you'll either need to delete files or ask them to give you more space.

    If that turns out not to be the problem, please let us know and we'll investigate further.

    Thanks,

    Hi Peter,

    Are you getting an error when you check for updates, or are you just being told there your version of Fetch is up to date? If you are getting an error, what is the error?

    Which version of Fetch do you have? The latest version of Fetch is version Fetch 5.6; so if you already have Fetch 5.6, then that would be why Fetch isn't offering you an update.

    (There is a version of Fetch in the Mac App Store that has a different version number, but there are no new features or bugfixes in the Mac App Store version of Fetch. We had to make some internal changes to meet the App Store requirements, so we had to give it a different version number, but they are functionally identical. You aren't missing out on anything. If you have Fetch 5.6, you have the latest version.)

    And you can always download the latest version of Fetch from our home page at http://fetchsoftworks.com .

    Thanks,

    Check for Updates would just hang forever. It finally worked last night and I got 5.6. When I tried to upload a gallery to my server the same problem of a 600 second timeout happened that I was getting with 5.3. I have plenty of server space and when I switched to a different ftp client, it worked.

    Hi Peter,

    Okay, I'm glad you were able to get the update. Our servers were up and running fine this weekend, so it may have been some Internet issue between you and us that is now resolved.

    So you are still seeing the problem with Fetch 5.6?

    Could you please do the following?

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Try uploading a problem gallery again.
    * After you either receive an error, or Fetch has stalled for at least 3 minutes, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and send them in an email to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com

    We'll take a look and try to figure out what's going on.

    Thanks,

    It worked just now. The next time it hangs up again, I'll send you the transcript.

    Thanks
