    How do I import my existing shortcuts in version 4.02 into version 5.5? Thanks!

    Hi Jeff,

    If you're running Fetch 5.5 on the same computer that you were using Fetch 4.0.2 on, the shortcuts should be imported automatically when you run Fetch 5.5. If that does not or did not happen, let us know.

    If you are setting up Fetch on a new computer and want to move your shortcuts to it and import them, we have a help topic on moving your shortcuts to a new Macintosh.

    Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

    I already tried this. In version 4.0.2 there is no shortcut menu, but I can view all of them under window>fetch shortcuts, save as is not an option, it is grayed out. I have also tried copying the prefs files to the new mac, doesn't work either. Thanks

    Hi Jeff,

    Please try the following:

    * Quit Fetch if it's running.
    * Click the desktop background to select the Finder.
    * In the Finder, go to the "Go" menu, and choose "Home"
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Preferences folder
    * See if there is com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch.Shortcuts.plist file in that folder.
    * If so, put it in the Trash.
    * Copy the old Fetch Shortcuts file into the Preferences folder again.
    * Open Fetch again.

    Are your shortcuts imported?

    Thanks,

    Interesting variation on this issue. 5.5 successfully shows my shortcuts from 4.0.2 EXCEPT any the names of which start with an IP address (which I do to keep a particular server's shortcuts together but the rest alphabetically). So now I have half my shortcuts in the new version.

    I realise that I probably need to come up with a new naming convention, but how do I then get the (altered) 4.0.2 shortcuts into the 5.5 shortcuts list?

    cheers SB

    Hi Simon,

    We haven't heard of that problem before. Fetch has not altered your old Fetch 4 shortcuts file; instead it creates a new Fetch 5-format shortcuts file. So we'd like to take a look at your Fetch 4 shortcuts file and we'll see if we can get it imported correctly for you.

    Could you please do the following?

    * Click the desktop background to select the Finder.
    * In the Finder, go to the "Go" menu and choose "Home"
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Preferences folder
    * Find the Fetch Shortcuts file, and click it once to select it.
    * Go to the File menu, and choose Compress (on Mac OS X 10.5 or later) or Create Archive (on Mac OS X 10.4).
    * This will create a Fetch Shortcuts.zip file.

    Please email the Fetch Shortcuts.zip file to us at bugs@fetchsoftworks.com , and we'll take a look.

    Thanks,

    Hi, Thanks for response. Have got it right now thanks. I think there was an intermediately old copy of fetch shortcuts somewhere that was muddying the water.
