Impossible to make a mirror backup (6 posts)

    Our website contains a lot of files. As we add new images every day, we'd like to backup regularly.
    But when we try to make a mirror folder (remote to local) Fetch stop after a few minutes with the following message: "the server dropped the connection".
    What is the problem ? What is the solution ?
    We tried to change our pref (Use passive mode transfer), but with the same result.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you see the error? Choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu to open the window.

    Thanks,

    Hello Jim
    That's the message I get after 300 sec of inactivity:

    PORT 192,168,1,33,121,116
    send_cmd():con_conn->Putline() returns -3158
    ftp_retrieve: -30014 (state == RGET_RETRIEVING)

    Could you try again with "Use passive mode transfers" checked, and then show me 20 or so lines of the transcript after it stalls?

    Thanks,

    The problem in that case was that Fetch had spent 5 minutes checking the modification dates of files without transferring any, and the server dropped the connection because no transfers had happened. You might ask the server administrator to increase the timeout to 15 or 30 minutes.
