Internal Server Error (13 posts)

    I registered a domain name and have a hosting account with godaddy.com and got fetch to use as my FTP connector. I made a webpage using iWeb and did put the file in Fetch but my website still comes up as an internal server error. What may be the problem?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for that information. Please try uploading your site again. Then, choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and post the complete contents of that window (or email them to bugs at fetchsoftworks dot com). I will try to figure out what is going wrong.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    I don't see any good reason why your page should not be showing up. I would recommend contacting GoDaddy technical support, so they can take a look at it from their side.

    Sorry that I can't be more helpful.

    It's good to know that there's nothing wrong with Fetch. I just contacted GoDaddy so hopefully that helps.
    Thanks anyways!

    Hi, I am attempting to change a .pdf form on my website server. Everytime I go to upload something, I get an internal error. "Date connection already open; Transfer starting" - It is not allowing me to make changes on my server. Very frustrating. :/

    Hi ineedhelp,

    This is most likely a problem with the server, that is out of Fetch's control.

    However, if you can post a Fetch Transcript, we'll take a look and see what advice we have for you. To do this:

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Try uploading the pdf file.
    * After you receive the error, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    Thanks,

    Greetings Scott,
    Thank you for your prompt reply! I have recently downloaded the latest version of Fetch, and this has solved the problem! I guess this is all I needed to do?

    Thank you

    Hi,

    It's hard to say without more information if the latest version of Fetch fixed the problem, or if it was just a transient server problem that went away by the time you tried it with the new Fetch. Regardless, the problem is fixed and that's the important thing!

    Please let us know if the problem comes back, or if we can answer any other question for you.

    Thanks,

    Hi Anne,

    When you receive an error like this when trying to connect to a server that you've previously connected to successfully, usually this indicates a problem with the server. You should contact the company or person who runs the server to have them look into the problem.

    If they confirm that there is not a problem with the server, verify your hostname, username, and password with them, and then double-check what you've entered in the New Connection dialog or the shortcut.
    You may receive an error saying your password is incorrect even if the real problem is that you entered the incorrect hostname or username, or the server is experiencing problems.

    Fetch is not involved in deciding whether your password is correct or not; Fetch sends what you type as your password to the server, and either the server says the password is okay, and allows Fetch to connect; or the server rejects the password and sends back an error message, which Fetch then reports to you.

    Please let us know if you have further questions after talking to the people who run the server.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
