I know that there are a lot of difficulties using iWeb and Fetch and I seem to have come into contact with all of them!
I have built a webpage in iWeb and am currently using Fetch to upload the page to my school's server. I read in the Help section that when using iWeb you have to upload all the files separately, i.e. not upload folders, but just the files in the folders. I tried doing this and none of my files show up on the website, I just see a lot of question marks. I also tried uploading the files in the folders and a ton of other things but nothing seems to work. Please help!!!!

    Hi Cathy,

To clarify... when uploading an iWeb-created site, you should not take all the files out of the folders; it's just the "top" folder that you should upload the contents of, not the folder itself. For all the other folders iWeb creates, you should leave the files in them, and just upload the folders as is.

So, to use an example you may have seen me post already, let's assume your website is called "Family Trip", and when you use "Publish to a Folder," you tell iWeb to put its files in a folder called "My New Website."

Once iWeb is done, in the Finder you will see something like:

    My New Website (folder)
      index.html
      Family Trip (folder)
    Another Folder (folder)

(You may or may not have more than one folder inside the "My New Website" folder, I show two here just to make a better example.)

When you go to upload your website, you should upload the three items inside the "My New Website" folder - index.html, the "Family Trip" folder and the "Another Folder" folder. You should upload the two folders as is - don't take the files out of them.

It's just that you don't want to grab the "My New Website" folder and upload it to the website; you want to upload the three things inside it.

(It's kind of like having a big bag, with some smaller bags and a few loose items inside it. You want to hand Fetch everything that is inside the big bag as is - that is, leave the small bags still packed - but don't give Fetch the big bag itself.)

It may be best to use Fetch to delete the files you've already uploaded to the server, and try again.

I hope this has clarified things; please let us know if it hasn't.

    Thanks,
